Through its two departments (Business Administration and Applied Technology), The School of Business offers the following degrees:
• Masters of Business Administration
• Bachelors of Science in Business Administration
• Bachelors of Science in Business Education
• Minor in Business Administration
• Bachelors of Science in Industrial Technology
Since businesses today need people who are trained as thinkers and as communicators, our program emphasizes critical thinking and breadth of knowledge. The goal of the department faculty is to educate our students for lifelong learning.
Carlos Valero, MBA 2001, reports:
"A very friendly and welcoming environment, highly supportive and proficient faculty and small class sizes made my MBA experience at HSU very memorable.
The Business School at HSU makes a significant effort to ensure that the learning process is effective and pleasant at the same time. Most faculty members have an open door policy making themselves available for student's questions and concerns. Many classes include opportunities to experience practical activities as case studies and special projects with local businesses. It felt good to know that the department and us as students were working towards the same goal - high-class enjoyable education.
Day in and day out, I go back to the many teachings from HSU to succeed at my current job as Marketing Manager for a global electrical equipment manufacturer. Without a doubt, completing HSU's Master In Business Administration program has better prepared me to face the many challenges of this position."
Our competitive advantage is small class sizes, especially in our major specific courses. This allows us to provide students with frequent writing, speaking, and presentation opportunities. We use a case approach throughout the curriculum so that students are writing and presenting their learning in a realistic setting.
We require our students to learn and to use computing skills throughout our curriculum. We teach quantitative skills and use these skills repeatedly in business classes.
Because we are a small department, we have frequent contact with our students. We encourage them to talk with us. Our faculty members are available to work with them individually. We participate in student club activities, in internships, and in attempts to provide practical experiences.
