Course Objective:
Drug abuse clearly has become a major social problem in the United States. Drug education has been playing a major role in preventing and treating drug abuse and addiction. The objective of this course for students is to acquire the updated knowledge about the patterns of drug use and abuse, pharmacology of drug actions and interactions, biological, psychological, and social perspectives of the major psychoactive drugs, and prevention and treatment of drug abuse.
Course Requirements:
Students are required to take four exams (threemid-term exams and one final exam). Each test will include multiplechoice and essay questions. The multiple choice questions arefrom the contents of the textbook. The instructor will providefew potential essay questions to students for each chapter.
Grading Procedures:
Course grade is based on four exams, an oral presentatio. Each exam will count for 100 points (therefore, the final isnot more important than any of the other exams). By doing wellon these exams, students can earn a maximum of 400 points. Aletter grade will be based on this 400 points with:
