CNRS Student Poster Competition -Humboldt Chapter of
Sigma Xi
Call
for Posters and Poster Criteria
The
HSU chapter of Sigma Xi would like to give students, particularly
undergraduates, a venue for sharing their findings with the HSU scientific
community, and to recognize and support their achievements. Posters need present
research conducted as an independent study, or within the classroom, or for a
graduate thesis. Separate awards will be given to CNRS undergraduate and
graduate students.
Deadlines: A title, a paragraph description of the research
project, the location where the poster will be displayed, and whether you are
an undergraduate or a graduate student needs to be emailed to Dr. Ken Owens,
Mathematics Dept. (kdo10@humboldt.edu) by May 5. Posters should be displayed during finals
week in the student’s department, and judging and monetary awards will occur on
the day of Commencement, May 17.
About the poster: Poster dimensions and format are up to the student
and supervising faculty member.
Awards: First prize
in each category, undergraduate and graduate, is $100.00. Second and third
prize in each category is $50.00.
Displaying the poster: Since many departments have an open house on the day
of Commencement, it is assumed that most students will arrange, with the help
of the supervising faculty member, to have the poster be a part of the open
house presentation. Ribbons will be gently affixed to award winning posters
early on the morning of Commencement.
Poster judging: Posters will be judged by HSU Sigma Xi members. There will be separate categories for
undergraduate and graduate students. Judging criteria include:
