Humboldt County is home to many types of raptors, birds with hooked beaks and hooked talons. In this two-day class you'll find out who some of them are, how they hunt, and what they eat. We'll dissect pellets, make take-home owls, and even create our own guide to Humboldt's common birds of prey. Play games like Owls and Vultures, Hawk Eyes, and Dress Up an Owl for Success. You can explore the Museum's collection of raptor feathers, talons and mounted specimens. On the second day there will be a field trip to the Arcata Bottoms to view raptors like Northern Harriers, Falcons and White-Tailed Kites in their natural habitat.
