The purpose of Systems Status is to provide customers with information on the current status of HSU central systems.

An archive is available of all advisories and notices since 2/1/2003.

A current listing of Scheduled Maintenance times is available.

Services Affected: First floor classrooms affected are rooms 108, 109, 110, 115, 116, & 117. Several Admin offices - rooms 206E & 215 will also be affected. The outage will be for one hour.

CMS PeopleSoft Finance will be unavailable from Nov 5 at 5 p.m. through Nov 7 at 5 p.m. due to a CMS Central mandated database upgrade. The database upgrade from Oracle 9i to 10g is expected to improve stability and performance. The PeopleSoft 9.0 application features and functionality are unaffected by the upgrade. Update: AT&T has re-scheduled the maintenance on the primary campus Internet connection. The outage will now take place on Thursday November 5th 8:30 - 10:30am. Purpose: The campus was notified by CENIC that AT&T will be performing routine circuit maintenance on the primary campus Internet connection. Services Affected: NONE. The campus will automatically switch to our backup Internet connection. No impact to the campus is expected. This message is being posted for your information only.

All wireless access will be unavailable in the Library beginning at 5am on Wednesday November 4th. Access will be restored by 8am. Issue: Currently the first floor of the library (not the ground floor) is currently oversubscribed causing users the inability to connect to the HSU wireless system. Short-term Resolution for 03NOV08: Go the the second floor of the library to connect or some other campus wireless hotspot Wireless Network Outage Date: 04NOV09 Time: 06:00 - 0830 am Affected Areas: The entire Library building Work to be performed: Resurvey Library wireless coverage and relocate access points for optimal coverage and usage. Future Resolution: Upgrade and install additional access-points as per CSU ITRP2 project during the Spring semester.

Network Bulletin posted 02NOV09 @ 2:00 PM ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wireless Internet access in the Library Learning Commons has been experiencing intermittent slowdowns and service interruptions. This happens when there are too many users concentrated on the first floor. If you experience difficulties, the upper floors have some unused capacity. TNS is looking into what options exist to add extra capacity. Check back for updates.

The online directory service was down before 7:30am until 8:14am on monday morning 11/2/09. The online directory service runs on the same server that www.humboldt.edu runs on, so it will come up at the same time as www.humboldt.edu.

All internal HSU mail delivery is being delayed, the problem is being investigated. Mail to and from off-campus addresses is being delivered.

This problem has been resolved with the reboot performed last night. This was related to a Zimbra/LDAP communication glitch.

We have reports of some users who are unable to send mail right now. The email clients are prompting for a password but not accepting the password as valid. A reboot temporarily resolves this problem and allows the message to go through, but subsequent messages are blocked. We are investigating this problem.

There may be an interruption in service for the web cluster, LDAP and users cluster (affecting websites, e-mail and network folders) tomorrow (Wed 10.21.09) at 5pm lasting for no more than 30 minutes. We're not anticipating the outage will really be required, but we're setting this window just in case.

Attempts to roll back this setting have been unsuccessful. Users will be unable to use port 587 for on-campus mail and will have to reconfigure (if they haven't already) their systems to use smtp port 465 with SSL and authentication. This change impacts only a few users on campus who were configured to use port 587. We apologize for this inconvenience.

A change to the SMTP settings was inadvertently made that is blocking port 587 ON-campus, which has caused some on-campus users using port 587 to not be able to send mail. This problem will be resolved soon. On-campus users will still have to configure their systems to use 465 for smtp by 4/18/10.

Central Information Technology Systems and Services (CITSS) has a scheduled a service window from 5:01 AM - 11:00 AM on Sunday, October 18. Most central Linux and Windows servers will have security patches and updates applied during this window. Some of the patches will require that the systems be rebooted causing brief outages to the services provided. Major affected services include: Moodle, Webmail, the campus Web Server, HSU News Online, Campus Climate, Resource25, CMS Terminal Servers, Lab Stats, VPN Server, Banner Forms, Elm, ITS- ELM, NRS-File, NRS-Labs, departmental windows file servers, LDAP, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, CRM Database and Application Servers.
