Humboldt State University Department of Theatre Film and Dance

MFA Theatre Arts: Scenography

Our Department of Theatre, Film, and Dance offers a very artistically diverse and energetic program for your training and career development. The scenographic approach unique to our program will further your development as a holistic artist, with the skills and vision to fully create the visual world in which characters exist and thrive. Our department is committed to a hands-on, experiential learning process, which will provide you a comprehensive working knowledge of your art. Our students are prepared to engage in professional careers and life-long learning. We aim to develop citizen artists who understand that theatre, film and dance can offer profound insights into the human condition.

The size of our program provides great opportunity to work closely with faculty and the diversity of our program allows opportunities to explore a variety of interests and to challenge yourself and grow as an individual. We are committed to working with you as an artist, to further foster your insightful and creative exploration of scripts, concepts, and the performance environment as a whole. We hope that you wish our program to be the next phase in your professional and career development.

If you would like to apply to our program for Fall, 2008, the deadline for application is April 15th. To apply, you will need to complete the Department’s online application to the MFA program, submit the required supporting materials to our department, and fill out the University’s application for graduate study. We also, of course, encourage you to visit any campus to which you are considering attending and would personally welcome the chance to meet with you further and give you a tour of our facilities and the community.

Directions for the Departmental application requirements to the MFA in Scenography are available at: http://www.humboldt.edu/~theatre/programs_hsuaddmissions.php. The link to the department’s online application form can be found at the bottom of that web page.
