Linda Maxwell (Dance)

Sharon Butcher

Linda Maxwell is very happy and honored to be the newest faculty in dance at Humboldt State University.

Linda received her BFA in dance from University of California at Irvine, and many years later, her MFA in dance from the same institution.

Before moving to Humboldt County, Linda spent more than thirty years in dance education at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California. She enjoys teaching a variety of dance styles, including modern, ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop and folklorico, and loves inspiring students to dance.

In addition to choreographing, teaching and performing at the college level, Linda has also worked with civic ballet companies and had her works adjudicated on gala National Regional Ballet Festivals. She has choreographed musicals for various venues, including PCPA, Santa Barbara Youth Theater and the American Melodrama Company.

Linda loves bringing dance of any form to the community, and in the past received many California Arts Council grants to bring dance to special underprivileged audiences to the central coast area.

Linda considers herself a continuous student of dance, and spends her summers studying dance in New York City. She lives in Humboldt County with her husband Max (part-time Chemistry instructor at HSU), dog "Prancer" and her six water turtles.
