Math 103i/43-Math as a Liberal Art/Skills: Quantitative Methods.  Sections 1/1   CRNs (42571/42558)

Class Time: 9:00 - 9:50 Monday, Wednesday and Friday in ARTA 27 for 103i and Tuesday and Thursday in KA 102 for 43.

Text: Excursions in Modern mathematics (6th edition) by Peter Tannenbaum (ISBN 0-13-187363-6). Older editions work mostly fine for this class as well.  The readings are very similar, there are a few new topics in the new edition but these can often be found also in other sources. Problems will be mostly given using worksheets and occasionally assigned from the text.

Calculator: A scientific or graphing calculator.

Math 115 Algebra & Elementary Functions, Section 20 – (CRN 42810)

Class Time: 3:00-3:50 Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Founders Hall 118. In addition you should be enrolled in one of the Tuesday sections shown below.

Required Text: Precalculus, Functions and Graphs 11th edition by Swokowski and Cole with Enhanced Web Assign.  The student solution manual is recommended.  ISBN-10: 0-495-10837-5, ISBN-13: 978-0-495-10837-5

Text Notes: Enhanced Web Assign may be purchased separately if you buy a used book ($35 I believe).  Web Assign does include a viewable version of the text but it is inconvenient as your sole textbook.  The students’ solution manual is optional.

Calculator: A scientific calculator without the graphing feature will be required for some of the tests.  A graphing calculator or computer program can be used to explore functions graphically.

You should also be enrolled in one of the following Tuesday Sections.

Math 115 Algebra & Elementary Functions, Section 22-(CRN 42827)
