2. Species richness accumulated more rapidly with number of observations on the HSU campus than the Arcata Community Forest. Fifteen species were seen after observing 112 individuals on campus while 13 were observed in the Arcata Community Forest after 112 individuals had been observed.

Despite observing fewer species on campus, the Shannon-Wiener and 1/Simpson’s index were greater for the campus sample than the ACF sample. This indicates that evenness is greater on the HSU campus than the ACF.
5. Jacard’s Index of Similarity=0.31. Only 31% of the species were found in both the Arcata Community Forest and on the HSU campus indicating a high turnover of species between locations.
