Adventure Island: Kyle Bellinger

Sitting, waiting, wondering, anticipating in this crowded capsule full of people, hearing an ominous buzz, I soon realized I had arrived at my destination. A calm voice told us to wait just a few more minutes before standing up. I looked to my right and I saw another world separated by a thick window. An eager voice next to me said, “Look, we’re here!” My family and I had finally arrived in Kauai for our first vacation together. The island’s population of about 60 thousand was nearly a quarter of the population of our hometown. The man’s voice came on again and told us that we had arrived in paradise. The hatch door opened, and immediately the bright light broke through, giving us a taste of the dense, warm air full of tranquility and adventure. I stood up eagerly, again waiting, wondering, and anticipating what lay ahead in this tropical paradise. As I was walking down the aisle, that ominous buzz started to fade, as I inched nearer and nearer to the natural light. Almost there, I glanced to my side and I saw the attendant give me a bright smile, and my sister, just an inch behind impatiently said, “Move faster, Kyle.” The eagerness and tension for a better place erupted at that very moment before freedom from the capsule. My parents were ready for a fun and relaxing period of time away from their problems, though I was on a mission for an adventure in the wild to test myself. Then finally, I took that gigantic step out of the airplane and onto a land that is by most labeled as paradise.
