Sparrowe receives Distinguished Alumni Award
The Humboldt State University Alumni Association has named this year's Distinguished
Alumni Award recipients. From the College of Natural Resources and Sciences
comes wildlife management major Rollin Sparrowe, class of 1964. He is currently
president of the Wildlife Management Institute in Washington,
D.C. In 2002, Sparrowe
received the Aldo Leopold Memorial Award from the Wildlife Society, the most
prestigious award in the profession. He was honored for his leadership in the
translation of science into policy in wildlife management. Sparrowe
will appear on an NBC News segment with Tom Brokaw in the near future,
concerning the hunting/conservation/angling community’s relationship with
President Bush. The 2004 Distinguished Alumni Awards event was held Saturday,
April 3rd, at 6 pm at the Ingomar Club ($55 p/p). to honour Rollin Sparrowe, along
with the two other recipients of this award: John Zelezny
and John Woolley.
