An IT task is a relatively simple job that is not estimated to need more than one person for 20 hours to complete and won't have a knock-on effect on any other IT tasks in process. Anything that's likely to take longer and require more resources needs to be planned in. This is handled by the Project Prioritization Steering Committee, who will review the ITS project proposal developed from your original support request and determine the project's overall value to the University and schedule it accordingly.

Yes, by all means talk with your ITC or a member of the Technology Help Desk staff. They will help you to figure out whether what you need to do requires IT work or can be fixed by, for example, tweaking the settings in an application.
