Black and white print-outs are charged at $0.04 per page and color at $0.25 per page. The price for large format prints is still being determined.

Note that color printing is only available in college labs, which are restricted to students enrolled in specific classes. These facilities are located in Founders Hall 106, Art A 125, Theatre Arts 9 (College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences facilities), Behavioral and Social Sciences 316a, Forestry 203, Forestry 204c, Natural Resources 210, Science D 15, and Science D 17 (College of Natural Resources and Sciences locations.)

You can add money to your c-card at the Housing and Dining Cashier’s Office or online. You can also add money to your c-card with cash using the c-card machine on the 2nd floor of the Library, across from the elevator. You can also make c-card deposits at the Depot, Library Café, South Campus Marketplace, BSS Marketplace, and the Giant's Cupboard.

You’ll be able to request a refund if you have to re-do any of your printing. If a document doesn't print because of a technical problem such as a paper jam or the print quality is poor, you should print to an alternative printer and request a refund for the offending pages.

You are responsible for verifying your print jobs and the printer to which they are being sent before you accept the charges. Refunds will only be issued for legitimate reasons and must be requested within 24 hours of the problem.Go to the refunds web page to submit your request.

  • Printing wrong materials (it's up to you to ensure you are printing the correct materials)
  • Printing many copies of the wrong materials (you should preview what you are printing before you start, and not continue printing incorrect materials)
  • Printing to the wrong printer (you should verify which printer you are selecting - the ‘cheapest’ printer in the lab is normally the default printer)

It's your responsibility to log off when you're finished printing. Lab workstations are set to automatically log you off after 10 minutes of inactivity.

The software will usually detect if a printer is jammed, but if your job doesn't print because of a jam and you are charged for it, you can request a refund.

Extended Ed students can add funds to their c-card accounts in the same way as regular students. For short-term classes, Extended Ed will add a non-refundable printing fee to each lab class. Students in those classes will receive a credit for this fee on their Pay-for-Print account.

Faculty can print without using c-card funds; however, lab printers should not replace departmental printers and copy machines. Deans will receive reports detailing all faculty printing activities and will address excessive use on an individual basis.

Guest Users with Individual Guest Accounts cannot use the Pay-for-Print system. The community printers in the Library are available for Guest Users.

For events involving a large amount of printing and/or a large number of guest users, a print quota can be set and charged to the requesting department. Use the Group, Conference, and Event Accounts request form to arrange this.

If you're using OS X 10.7 or OS X 10.8, you may see the following warnings when you try to install wireless printing:

  • Popup can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store
  • Notify can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store

This is because the more recent operating systems have more restrictive default settings in order to improve security. However, you can work around this problem without introducing any security weaknesses by individually exempting the wireless printing software because it is a trusted application:

  1. Control-click (or right-click) the downloaded app to run/install it
  2. On the popup menu, choose Open
  3. On the next dialogue box, choose Open again

You should now be able to install and run wireless printing from your Mac.

If you only see the window asking if you want to use your C-Card funds, not the window to select a grant or department, this means either that you are not an authorized grant/department user OR that the grant/department is out of funds. The Principal Investigator or signature authority on your grant/department needs to create a Help Desk Ticket to find a solution to this problem.
