Data Warehouse Report Enhancements, Phase 2

Description

Expand the amount and type of student data available in the integrated data warehouse, begin to migrate finance and HR data loading processes to the same tool being used for student data, and identify additional key campus data sources to include in the warehouse. By consolidating as much data as possible in the warehouse and by training OBI users across campus, we will achieve significant efficiencies in report building and general information availability as well as more timely and sophisticated data analysis.

Status Update

2/26/14: The Data Warehouse Leadership Team has been operational for over a year now and has begun to set priorities for the warehouse, including determining which data sources should be brought into the warehouse. The training program for report developers has also been in effect for over a year. Cross-area analysis work is under way and largely operational, so the project is being formally closed, even though operational work continues in these areas.

11/26/13: The Student data security model is ready for review by the Vice Presidents. The Data Warehouse team continues to work on snapshots that will enable us to show year-to-date comparisons for Student data, as well as on multi-year charts of accounts for financial reports. In addition, we are exploring options for reports across multiple data marts.

9/24/13: The Student data security model is close to completion. The team continues to work on snapshots to enable us to show year-to-date comparisons for Student data and on multi-year charts of accounts for finance reports. 

8/27/13: The Student data security model is almost complete. The team continues to work on snapshots to enable us to show year-to-date comparisons for Student data and on multi-year charts of accounts for finance reports. 

7/29/13: We are finishing up the Student data security model. The Data Warehouse team is working on implementing snapshots to enable us to show year-to-date comparisons for Student data and on multi-year charts of accounts for finance reports. Training for report analysts on campus is ongoing.

6/24/13: We are currently working with Student Financial Services on their portion of the Student data security models. The Data Warehouse Leadership Team is conducting a survey in order to construct a list of data sources on campus and develop a process for managing report requests.

5/30/13: We continue to work on Student data security models. The Data Warehouse Leadership Team is establishing priorities for the Data Warehouse team.

4/26/13: We are continuing to work with Admissions, Records, Student Financial Services, and Financial Aid on the Student data security models.

3/26/13: We continue to plan out the details of the project while working on security models for HR and Student data.

2/25/13: We continue to plan out the details of the project while working on security models for HR and Student data.

1/28/13: We are in the planning phase to determine where the main focus of the work will be in this project.

8/27/12: Planning for this project will begin as soon as we wrap up the Phase 1 project.

5/8/12: Project approved and scheduled.
