Security :: HSU-Owned Devices :: Approved Antivirus Software

Antivirus software protects computers and computer-based mobile devices from being infected by viruses, spyware, worms, Trojans, and a long list of other malware that can damage or destroy data. In order to protect both your computer and all other computers connected to the Humboldt State University networks, you must have up-to-date virus protection on your computer before you are permitted to connect to the campus networks. For that reason, HSU makes the commercial version of Sophos AntiVirus available at no charge to faculty, staff, and students as part of our campus-wide license.

Effective July 19, 2011, antivirus products from the following companies (some free, some commercial) meet the requirements for HSU network access. Note that simply installing the software is not enough; it must be kept up to date using whatever update mechanism is incorporated into the antivirus program.

If you have any questions or concerns about antivirus software, please contact the Technology Help Desk at (707) 826-HELP (4357)
