The HSU Children's Center provides affordable high quality child care and education for HSU students, staff & faculty families. The program is accreditted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Our Center is located on the HSU campus at 14th and A Streets. The program is housed in three renovated houses with classrooms for five age groups:
Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. University calendar weekdays. Full and part-time sessions are available. Child care hours are based on parent's class or work schedule with allowance for study time whenever possible.
Our Children's Center is a department within Student Affairs. We have a Center Director who oversees the operation, and an Assistant Director who is responsible for the Care & Education program. Credentialed Teachers coordinate the children's programs in each classroom. Programs are coordinated by both a Head Teacher and Teachers at the Toddler Center and Preschool. All teachers hold Bachelor's degrees and have extensive course work and experience in early childhood education. Employed university students provide additional classroom assistance. These are HSU students usually in child development or related fields hired on a part-time basis.
