Awards

Each spring the department awards students for their outstanding achievement. Award winners are recognized at a department celebration and at a local ASCE chapter meeting.

Outstanding ERE Graduate

One or two graduating ERE students are selected each year for a combination of demonstrated best academic achievement and best professional potential in Environmental Resources Engineering.

Roscoe-Schenler Award

Awarded in honor of two former HSU Engineering professors: Jim Roscoe and Bill Schenler. One or two ERE students each year are recognized for outstanding potential in Environmental Resources Engineering. Award amount varies depending on interest rates (typically $500-$1000).

Homer Arnold Award

Awarded in honor of former HSU Environmental Resources Engineering professor: Homer Arnold. One or two ERE students each year are recognized for demonstrated outstanding achievement in applied Environmental Resources Engineering. Award amount varies depending on interest rates (typically $500 - $1000).

GHD/Winzler & Kelly Award

Awarded to one junior/senior ERE student each year for demonstrated leadership in the ERE department or through ERESA, SWE, EWB or RESU chapter activities. Landau Associates Award

Awarded once a year to a randomly chosen ERE student who has passed thermodynamics (ENGR 331). Award amount is $500.  Visit the Landau Associates website for more information about the company that sponsors this award, their projects, and careers for engineers.

Marty Lay SHN Award

Awarded in honor of Marty Lay, an HSU ERE graduate and consulting engineer at SHN Consulting Engineers and Geologists.  This award recognizes one ERE student each year who is nominated by his/her peers for demonstrated teamwork, passion and leadership in Environmental Resources Engineering.  Award amount is $750.  Visit the SHN website for more information about the company that sponsors this award, their projects, and careers for engineers.

Alden Burrows Engineering Scholarship

Awarded in honor of former HSU Environmental Resources Engineering professor: Alden Burrows. One student each year is recognized for outstanding leadership and academic excellence in Statics and Dynamics. Award amount is currently $1,000.
