Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI), provides an opportunity for students to study with peer leaders. These sessions are scheduled for rigorous entry-level and core science courses from several departments. The two 50 minute peer-facilitated sessions per week for the assigned course are designed to help students develop course specific academic and study skills. Participants review course content as well.
SI leaders will share the strategies they used to be successful in the course, answer questions over lecture and reading topics, conduct review activities, give practice quizzes and conduct review activities.
Some of the courses that often have SI sections scheduled are as follows:
- Biology 102, 104, 105 and 340
- Bot 105
- Chemistry 107, 109, 110, 321/2 and 328
- Zool 110
For the first week, SI sections will start on the second day listed. Announcements are made in the target class and permission numbers are handed out by the specific SI leaders for each section. Seating is limited so attend as soon as possible.
