Jed Haley-Brooks D’Abravanel, 2007, Politics, is currently attending law school at American University.
Anthony Medrano, 2000
Anthony Medrano, 2000 Politics, worked at Ohio University for a few years and moved back to Hawaii before finally settling down near Lake Mendota, Wis., where he is a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Currently, Medrano is several miles away in Malaysian Borneo, conducting dissertation research as a Fulbright fellow. Medrano’s interest in the social history of oceans stems from his formative years at Humboldt and its intellectual ecology.
Heather Frambach, 2009
Heather is currently an urban agriculture planner at the City of Austin, Texas, the Community Outreach Manager for a small East Austin farmers market, and an organizing fellow with Real Food Challenge, a national campaign that organizers for more local and sustainable food on college campuses. She completed her master’s degree in Community & Regional Planning at the University of Texas at Austin in 2012.

Rashad Thomas c/o 2006 and Imelda Fernandez c/o 2005 had their first child together. A baby girl by the name of Amira Thomas-Fernandaz.
Beckie Menten, 2007
Beckie Menten works at the California Energy Commission as an Energy Efficiency Specialist. She is currently working on programs to increase the energy performance of residential and commercial properties, including finding financing mechanisms for homeowners.
Rashad Korah Thomas, 2006
I am the project manager (country director) for Uganda Village Project. A non-profit orgainzation decited to improving the quality of life for citizens in the villages that make up the Iganga District. We have programs in well construction, nets, fistula repair, among others.

After serving as a Health Volunteer for the Peace Corps in Honduras, I am back in Arcata. I work for Northcoast Children’s Services as a Bilingual Family Service Specialist serving high-needs families with children enrolled in Head Start.

Kyle Knopp (2005) works as a Senior Analyst for budget policy and intergovernmental relations in the Executive Office of the County of Mendocino. Received his Masters in Public Administration in 2009 at SSU.

Working with the High Performance Building Standards group at the California Energy Commission on reducing energy in existing buildings.
Ian Blair (1994) works for the US Secret Service. He lives in Alexandria, VA.
Laura Barrera (1997) is community affairs manager for La Opinión, the nation’s largest Spanish language daily newspaper.
James Byles (1993) is Founder and President of Byles and Associates in Washington D.C., which works on sales and advertising for consumer and non-profit publishers.
Michael Caudill (1998) is President and CEO of Driven Communications. He also serves as an auto industry expert and spokesperson and makes routine appearances on KTLA-Channel 5 as their automotive expert.
Ruthanne Cecil (1994) is Executive Director of the Center for Environmental Economic Development. She has a J.D. from University of California’s Hastings College of Law.
Jason R.R.Conger (1997) is an attorney in private practice in Bend, Oregon. He earned his J.D. from Harvard University.
Viktoria Crummey (1996) teaches economics at Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe. She earned her M.A. in International Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden and intends to pursue her Ph.D. in development studies, particularly the political and economic effects of marginalized ethnic groups.
Stephanie Di Alto (1998) received her Ph.D. in political science at UC Irvine. She is on the coordinating council of the Indigenous Studies Network.
Amber Eckert (1993) is Dean of Student Affairs, Art institute of California-San Diego. She received an M.Ed. in College Student Personnel, University of Southern California.
Gareth Elliott (1992) is legislative director for California State Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata. Gareth lives in Sacramento , CA .
Samara (Smith) Foster (1999) is a resident academic advisor at UC-Santa Cruz and finishing her Ph.D. at the University of Colorado in Education Policy, with an emphasis in political theory. She also received an M.A. in Social Science from HSU.
Antonette Goroch (1990) is a Senior Analyst with Digital Tech Consulting. Goroch has been an analyst and executive in the media industry for over 10 years, covering areas including cable, digital satellite, consumer electronics, Internet, IPTV, digital video and music.
Katrina Hagen (1994) is a deputy director for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. She earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of San Francisco.
Jon W. Hardesty (1993) is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Cleveland Clinic. He lives in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Darcie Harvey (1997) started out with a local internship in Arcata, then an internship with Amnesty International in London, and after graduation, landed a coveted paid internship with the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Jennifer Ise (1996) completed an M.A. in Marine Affairs from the University of Washington in Seattle. She is currently working for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, where she started in 2001 as a Presidential Management Fellow.
Kellie Johnson (1993) is a Deputy District Attorney for Multnomah County. She received her J.D. from the University of Oregon School Of Law. She is an Instructor for the National College of District Attorneys and has served in leadership positions in the Oregon Women Lawyers Association, the Oregon Girl Scouts Beyond Bars program, the Oregon State Bar Leadership College, the Lane County Human Rights Commission, the Lane County Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, the Lane County Domestic Violence Counsel and Womanspace.
Jason Kirkpatrick (1995) is a political activist based in Berlin, Germany. He previously worked for the Sustainable Northern Ireland Programme and before that was a Green Party member elected to the Arcata city council and served as vice-mayor.
Diana Lundin (1993) is a defense attorney with Fox Bowman Duarte in Washington State. She earned her J.D. from UCLA.
Eric Mitchell (1995) is a software engineer with Chariot Software in San Diego, where he develops web applications for educators.

Jessica Shadian (1997) is a Senior Researcher at the High North Center for Business and Governance, Bodø Graduate School for Business, Bodø, Norway. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations from University of Delaware.
Mark Sheppard (1992) received his master’s of public administration from California State University, San Bernardino. Mark resides with his wife Penny in Redlands, CA.
Amy Skonieczny (1994) is an Assistant Professor of International Relations at San Francisco State University. Her interests include social construction of US trade politics, societal influence on US foreign policy, and social theory and narratives in global political economy. She received her Ph.D in Political Science from University of Minnesota in 2008.
Nicholas Tomb (1999) is a founding member of Global Majority. His primary employment is with the Center for Stabilization and Reconstruction Studies at the Naval Postgraduate School where he works as a Program Coordinator. Nick also teaches American Government at the Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey, CA since January 2005. He formerly served as President of the Arcata/Camoapa Sister City Project. He received an MA in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
