The best way to discover what HSU is all about is to come see for yourself.

So, consider yourself invited— this is a perfect opportunity to tour campus, meet our professors, and talk to current students about their own experiences at HSU. While there’s plenty to see on campus, a trip to HSU also presents you with the perfect opening to see and explore our community. Head downtown, peruse the shops, hit up a restaurant or two, and find out why our hometown of Arcata made it on Outside Magazine’s list of America’s top 15 college towns.

You can visit us any time of year and we don’t require that you schedule your visit beforehand. We offer student-led tours of campus year-round, Monday through Friday at 10:00 AM and at 2:00 PM, and on Saturday at 12:00 PM. Campus tours typically last 2 hours, where the last 45 minutes are a tour of the residence halls. If you schedule your visit at least two weeks in advance when classes are in session (for the Fall session, mid-September through the end of November, and for the Spring, the beginning of February through the end of April) you can also schedule a faculty appointment as well as visit a class.

Make a Faculty Appointment

Visiting with a faculty member can provide great insight into your potential major at Humboldt. A typical appointment will last 30 minutes and may include a tour of the department's facilities.

Visit a Class

You can sit in on a regular HSU class in the Department of your choice (provided the department offers classes on the day you are visiting.)

Admissions Appointments

If you are thinking about applying to HSU, you can sit down with an Admissions Counselor to learn about the steps you need to take to become eligible for admission. These appointments can be scheduled anytime.

We also recommend that you consider attending one of our special preview events, such as Fall Admissions Day or Spring Preview. These events offer you the chance to attend a wider range of activities and guarantee that you'll be able to sit in on classes and meet professors.
