How did you start your business?

After working closely with an environmental consultant I realized that I could make more of an impact in the private sector of environmental restoration. Out of a desire to protect the west coast from the mounting impacts of climate change, desertification, and water scarcity, I knew I wanted to focus on stream and meadow restoration. Fortunately our business has grown immensely over the past three years and we have had the opportunity to do several large scale meadow restoration projects across the state using low-tech process-based restoration. These healing structures, have the potential to restore streams to their natural floodplain, thus increasing the water storage and filtration capacity of meadows. My education and values I gained at Humboldt State led me on this path of environmental restoration and protection and gave me the tools I need to perform as a business owner. Currently my team is comprised of three Humboldt State alumni, myself included.

I took my graphic design skills that I learned from the late Wayne Knight at Humboldt, and applied them to laser cutting technology.
