Clara Riggio

I am a recent Master's of Science graduate from Cal Poly Humboldt with an emphasis in Environmental Science & Management. My thesis work and current research are focused on flood hazards and coastal adaptation strategies for low-lying communities in South Humboldt Bay.

I earned a B.A. from The Evergreen State College with an emphasis in Social Psychology and have previously worked as a psychology lab manager and research technician at Northeastern University. My interdisciplinary work on social and environmental issues is rooted in community-based research practices and mixed-methods approaches.

I am thrilled to join the ESM department as a lecturer for Environmental Conflict Resolution! My teaching style is collaborative, discussion- and activity-based, and aims to provide students with the individual tools needed to engage with difficult, multi-faceted environmental topics. In addition to my current teaching role, I am a Coastal Resilience Research Associate for California SeaGrant.
