Application Process

Apply online using Cal State Apply, the official application system for all 23 California State University campuses. If this is your first application, you will need to create an account to get started.

About 2 weeks after you submit your application, you'll get an email from the Office of Admissions that explains how to log in to myHumboldt. We recommend you check your Applicant Status Page at least once a week for important updates.

Starting October 1, submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the California Dream Act Application. Be sure to apply as early as possible.  The priority deadline for maximum aid consideration is MARCH 2.

To speak with a representative in our financial aid office, call 866-255-1390 or visit our Financial Aid web site.

  • Make sure you have all of your unofficial transcripts available when you fill out your Cal State Apply application. You’ll be asked to fill out all your coursework with grades as part of the application. Please use the Freshman Course Entry Guide  or the Cal State Apply Transfer Credit Entry Guide at the bottom of the page when filling out this section of the application.
  • All CSU campuses are test-optional where we do not require SAT and/or ACT scores in the admissions evaluation process.  Scores may be used for recommendations on placement for English Composition and/or math your freshman year. If you choose to send your scores, see instructions on how to submit your official SAT scores or ACT scores to Cal State Apply, and be sure to request your scores be sent using the CSU code 3594 for SAT and the Humboldt code for ACT which is 0286. Make sure your name, birthdate, and College Board ID and/or ACT ID match what’s on your test results.
  • If you’re eligible for a CSU application fee waiver, it will be granted in the application, based on information you provide concerning family size, income, dependency status, and residency.
