Job description: Developing and maintaining emission calculation tools to estimate emission rates from O&G facilities. Focus on emissions of:
• VOCs, GHGs, HAPs, CAPs, and H2S.
– Performing regulatory reviews of new and existing regulations.
– Completing state and federal air quality compliance projects including; air permits, emission inventories, and mandated reporting.
– Utilizing atmospheric dispersion models (i.e. AERMOD) to demonstrate compliance with NAAQS.
– Working with petroleum laboratories to coordinate the sampling and analysis of O&G samples.
– Assisting in the design and implementation of emission control devices (i.e. flares, combustors, and VRUs).
– Participating in EPA and state solicited comment periods for new regulations.
– Consulting O&G companies on general air compliance issues.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
Be able to learn new material by yourself. The ability to build upon the foundations you learn at HSU will be hugely beneficial throughout your career.
Be diverse. Having a broad range of skills and experiences can build you into a well rounded human being with a lot to offer. The lessons and experiences I gained as a commercial fisherman, carpenter, EMT, and firefighter all play into my engineering career.
Grow your professional network. Its never too early to start meeting people in your field. In some cases, its not what you know, but who you know.
Your reputation is your key to success. Always do work to the best of your ability. Treat people with respect and be honest.
Have fun in life, its too short not to!
