About Mattie

Why did you choose this program?

I wanted to work in a profession that helped address environmental problems and I also wanted an education that could lead to a range of employment options.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

The most important thing the ERE program taught me is how to effectively problem solve and the program provided me with the necessary tools to solve engineering problems. As I have faced new challenges, the tools learned through the ERE program have helped me tackle whatever has come my way. The program has also prepared me to effectively communicate in the professional world. The ERE program taught me how to write technical reports, work effectively in teams, present information to groups, and translate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner through these different types of communication.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

My favorite aspect of the program was the sense of community and support I felt. Either through fellow students or teachers, I always found the help I needed.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

If you are interested in helping the environment and solving complex environmental problems, I highly recommend this program. If you are also interested in a program with small class sizes and the ability to easily connect with faculty and students when you need help, the ERE program is for you!
