Job description: Responsible for a staff of 30+ engineers, scientists and technicians; operation of 50 reservoirs during normal and flood operations; installation of instrumentation necessary to operate the dams including basin gauges and communication systems; management of a multi-million dollar budget; hydrologic studies; and reservoir operations modeling. Enjoyed every day of this job!

Why did you choose this program?
Interest in the environmental movement and desire to become an engineer that could forward that movement. Program just starting so could see my work experiences as a plus in helping grow the program.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
In so many ways, as my job required working with all environmental sponsors and an ability to understand all sides of those issues. Teaching employees to be successful and advance in their fields. Extensive research and development programs under my purview.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
I was asked to teach all engineering computer classes after my graduation and prior to my leaving for the graduate program at Utah State University. I most enjoyed the interaction with the students, seeing that light go on and strongly considered a career in teaching.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
There are so many choices at Cal Poly Humboldt now, start your education experience here and find your love for your future career.
