About Diana

Why did you choose this program?

This degree seemed applicable to the diversity that the environmental industry has to offer. I was interested in policy making and decision making when it comes to enforcing and monitoring environmental regulations.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

This program had courses that prepared me with tools that I would actually be able to use in the real world. They have taught me the terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of environmental and natural sciences. My college career also equipped me with strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I enjoyed learning about real world cases and doing teamwork projects. For my Senior Practicum we worked with the California Department of Transportation, which really helped understand how state agencies work. I also enjoyed doing all the outdoor labs and actually going to see in the environment how the educational material we learned applied.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

Be open minded to the variety of environmental educational courses that this program has to offer. Definitely take advantage of the internship and on campus opportunities that would compliment that course work that you are doing in your degree.

This school was the perfect fit for my love for the environment. They exemplify what a true green institution should be, from the WRRAP Composting Program to the Zero Waste events that were hosted. This was a beautiful college experience in a beatiful naturally amazing town of Arcata amongst the Redwood Forest. I enjoyed my time here!
