Restroom Hand Dryer Retrofit- XHF025
This is a continuation of the 2009 Hand Dryers project, which aimed to reduce the amount of paper towels consumed by Cal Poly Humboldt by installing Dyson Airblade dB hand dryers in some of the high traffic restrooms on campus. This project was defunded by the Committee in 2024.
Green Workplace Equipment- XHF021
This project provides LED lamps, autoswitching power strips, and socket timers to individual offices as a part of the Green Campus Green Workplace Assessment process, in order for the campus to gain actual kWh/year savings. This project was defunded in 2024 because small widgets such as LED desk lamps, power strips, and socket timers have not been used in many years and no longer align with campus needs and systems.
Music Art Lighting LED Retrofit- XHF024
This lighting LED retrofit in the Art Quad replaced all exterior canopy and wall pack light fixtures with LEDs in order to increase safety, lighting efficiency, and energy savings. The following buildings were included in this retrofit:Music A, Music B, Art A, Art B, Theater Arts, Siemens Hall
Housing Lighting LED Retrofit- XHF022
The objective of this project is to replace the exterior lighting in the Canyon, Cypress, Jolly Giant Commons, and the Hill with LEDs.
Sci D Interior Lighting Upgrade- XHF030
The project includes the removal of the existing ballasts at existing T8 luminaires and replacement of existing T8 lamps with LED retrofit kits to achieve the goal of decreased power consumption in the Science D building.
Campus Wall- XHF018
The service provides a virtual space for the Humboldt community to list items for sale. Similar to Craigslist, however you must have an Humboldt email to participate. This project was defunded because the company went out of business in 2023.
Water Filling Stations- XHF031
Project proposes installing 9 new bottle filling stations for a total cost of $20,761 throughout Humboldt campus to save energy, reduce waste, and make it convenient for Cal Poly Humboldt’s community to refill reusable water bottles on campus. Final selected sites include: Redwood Bowl, JVD Lobby x2, Library x2, Gist Hall x1, Wildlife x1, BSS x1, and signage at Forbes and Gist Hall.
Exterior Compost Bins- XHF020
This project added 7 compost bins strategically placed around campus which allow for better accessibility to the campus community, ultimately reducing Humboldt’s impact on the landfill waste stream. This project also replaced 5 existing bins with a consistent style. Final additional exterior locations include: Natural Resources, Science D, Redwood Plaza, Art Quad, Founders Hall, Redwood Bowl, and Kinesiology & Athletics.
SERC PV Array Supplement- XHF017
This project provided funding to install a donated PV system, and monitoring equipment on the Schatz Energy Research Center building.
CCAT Water Heater Replacement- XHF019
In Spring 2016 Bryann Allen, Austin Anderson, and Solomon Clark from the Renewable Energy Student Union (RESU) proposed to replace the old natural gas water heater with an electric heat pump water heater with solar thermal coil preheating in the CCAT house. In total there is one outdoor unit and one indoor unit. The RHEEM hybrid electric air-to-water heat pump system provides hot water to both levels of the house. The electric heat pump and solar preheat system replaces the inefficient natural gas water heater which had a broken coil.
