Rachel Harrington

Viola Coach

Rachel Harrington is a classically trained violist from Oakland, California, and a descendant from a long line of professional musicians and music educators. Rachel is currently a graduate student at USC in the viola studio of Karen Dryfuss. Rachel previously studied under Karolina Naziemiec and Evan Antes at Pepperdine University, and in studio masterclasses of Alexander Treger.

She won the 2025 Thomas M. Osborn Concerto Competition with the Bartok Viola Concerto, performing it with the Pepperdine University Orchestra. Rachel also received the Chloe Ross Scholar award, founded the Pepperdine String Quartet, and spent a summer abroad in Heidelberg, Germany performing chamber music. 

She has served on staff as a violist at the Adirondacks Performing Arts Festival for the past two summers. Rachel has extensive experience in playing solos, orchestral, operas, musicals, and chamber music repertoire. She is excited to share her passion for making music at Sequoia with her students as an educator and mentor.
