Institutional Accreditation

Our Story, Our Future: The Road to Reaffirmation
In 2024, Cal Poly Humboldt’s Accreditation Coordinating Committee was joined by faculty, staff, and students to form the WSCUC 2026 Accreditation Steering Committee. Chaired initially by former AVP and Accreditation Liaison Officer Carmen Bustos-Works and currently chaired by current Accreditation Liaison Officer and Director of Assessment Mark Wicklund, this committee served as primary authors of the university’s institutional report and will shepherd the Cal Poly Humboldt community through the entire reaffirmation process, from the summer 2025 report submission to the WSCUC team’s fall 2025 offsite review to the team’s spring 2026 campus visit.
Why Accreditation — and Your Participation—Matters
Accreditation affirms who we are
Institutional accreditation validates the quality, integrity, and effectiveness of Cal Poly Humboldt’s academic programs and operations. It ensures the continued value of a Humboldt degree, preserves eligibility for federal and state financial aid, and strengthens public trust in our University. At its core, accreditation reflects our unwavering commitment to academic excellence, student success, and responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to us.
This is our moment to tell the Humboldt story
It gives us an opportunity to highlight our progress in the transformation into a polytechnic university, share how well our planning and resources support our purpose, and articulate our vision for the future. The upcoming site visit allows us to share that story—our strengths, our challenges, and our aspirations—directly with the WSCUC review team.
Participation demonstrates our shared commitment
WSCUC evaluates more than written reports; throughout the process, the review team seeks to understand our campus culture and collective engagement. When faculty, staff, students, and community partners engage in open forums and conversations, it demonstrates pride in our work and shared investment in Humboldt’s future.
This is a campus-wide effort
Accreditation is not the responsibility of a single office. It represents the collective efforts of our campus community — grounded in our purpose and focused on continued growth. Together, we can showcase the care, accountability, and continuous improvement that define Cal Poly Humboldt.
