2026 Accreditation
Our Story, Our Future: The Road to Reaffirmation
In 2024, Cal Poly Humboldt’s Accreditation Coordinating Committee was joined by faculty, staff, and students to form the WSCUC 2026 Accreditation Steering Committee. Chaired initially by former AVP and Accreditation Liaison Officer Carmen Bustos-Works and currently chaired by current Accreditation Liaison Officer and Director of Assessment Mark Wicklund, this committee served as primary authors of the university’s institutional report and will shepherd the Cal Poly Humboldt community through the entire reaffirmation process, from the summer 2025 report submission to the WSCUC team’s fall 2025 offsite review to the team’s spring 2026 campus visit.
In July 2026, WSCUC reaffirmed Cal Poly Humboldt’s accreditation through 2034. In light of the review team’s report, the Commission’s action letter commended the University for our deep commitment to our values and aspirations, the strength of our educational and student-support practices, our culture of data-based decision making, and the alignment of our planning processes guiding us through the University’s dynamic changes.
WSCUC also identified areas for development in aligning budget decisions with polytechnic priorities, maintaining discipline in strategic enrollment management, filling permanent senior leadership positions, implementing the goals of our campus plans, and advancing learning assessment in the General Education and All-University Requirements (GEAR) program.
