Job description: I'm a professor of Music and Director of Bands at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I conduct the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, teach graduate and undergraduate conducting, and serve as Chair of the Woodwind Brass and Percussion Division. With a career in music education spanning more than 25 years, previous appointments include the University of Puget Sound and Eureka High School. I received the Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees in conducting from Northwestern University. I'm a passionate advocate of music education as a festival adjudicator, rehearsal clinician, and guest conductor throughout North America and internationally.

Why did you choose this program?
I came to HSU to study physics, but soon found that my main passion was music.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
The size of the music program was perfect for individualized instruction, and I was given so many opportunities to explore and perform music in diverse settings.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
The wonderful relationships with faculty and colleagues in the program.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
Humboldt was such a supportive environment to learn and grow as an artist, musician, and teacher.
