About Olivia
Why did you choose this program?
I chose the academic research (AR) program at Humboldt State because I wanted to continue working with the faculty and research I had encountered during my undergrad. I felt that the program would support and expand my research and academic interests.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
The AR program was a crucial stepping stone in my academic path. The courses and content prepared me for the workload and standards I encounter in my current program. The AR program was challenging, but pushed me to reach for incredible opportunities. Today, I continue to use the research, statistical, and professional skills I acquired in the AR program to succeed as a graduate instructor and researcher at Texas Tech.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
I really enjoyed working on research with my advisor in the program. I am so thankful for all of the faculty involved during my path through the AR program. The faculty in the AR program encouraged my research progress and supported my professional development, often going out of their way to help me pursue my goals.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
I would highly recommend the AR program to prospective students. I had a wonderful experience that helped shape my future. The faculty work to establish a sense of community within the program and promote excellence in research techniques. While the program was challenging at times, I was constantly encouraged and supported by my advisor and fellow students.
