About Alexandria
Why did you choose this program?
I chose this program because there are multiple professors doing research in the broad area that I was interested in pursuing (social psychology). This would give me the opportunity to be exposed to many research areas and ideas. Another factor in choosing this program was the option to take advanced psychological statistics courses.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
This program prepared me for my current Ph.D. program by allowing me the opportunity to work with multiple professors and hone my research interests and my research skills. The advanced psychological statistics courses were immensely helpful in preparing me to be successful.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
What I enjoyed most about the program was the how welcoming and willing to help the professors were. They all have different expertises and I felt comfortable meeting with any of them to discuss research or topics that were relevant to both of our research interests. I think having all the faculty members as resources was incredibly helpful and I enjoyed the sense of community that it created.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
I think the program is a wonderful place to hone your research interests and skills before continuing on to a Ph.D. program. The advanced statistics courses and opportunities to work with quantitative data during the course of the program also provides students with the tools to secure a job after completing the program. In addition, the ability to work with and build connections with multiple professors provides students with long-term resources once they finish the program. Taking into consideration all of these aspects I strongly encourage students to consider this program.
