Real Food Challenge aims to redirect university spending toward local, ethical, and sustainable sources, particularly uplifting BIPOC producers and growers. RFC prioritizes “Real Food,” or food that adheres to one or more of our five values: local and community-based economies, environmental sustainability, valued workforce, animal welfare, and community health & nutrition. Through a Real Food Challenge chapter at Cal Poly Humboldt, we want to increase collaboration between students, faculty and producers regarding food systems on campus in an effort to educate, build community, and enact change on the Humboldt campus.
