CHIRLA Student Legal Services is launching a new service with our partner schools called CHIRLA Representative of the Day. If students, faculty, and staff would like general information, clarifications, case updates, or resources, students may log into the zoom link and have these matters answered by an attorney or a CHIRLA accredited representative. Students, faculty, and staff can also refer their immediate family members (parents, siblings, and spouses), friends and neighbors to log into the zoom link for quick consultations. This service will be available to all students every Friday from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA)
Serving the following campuses: Chico, Sacramento, Sonoma, Humboldt, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) was founded in 1986. CHIRLA is a California leader with national impact made of diverse immigrant families and individuals who act as agents of social change to achieve a world with freedom of mobility, full human rights, and true participatory democracy. CHIRLA’s mission is to achieve a just society fully inclusive of immigrants. CHIRLA organizes and serves individuals, institutions and coalitions to build power, transform public opinion, and change policies to achieve full human, civil and labor rights. Guided by the power, love, and vision of our community, CHIRLA embraces and drives progressive social change. CHIRLA was formed in response to the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986 which made hiring undocumented workers illegal, thus creating a situation ripe for worker exploitation and abuse which have increased since that time.
Funding for the services initially was provided by a one-time allocation of $7 million from the 2018 Budget Act to the California Department of Social Services to implement a direct immigration legal service programs on CSU campuses. For Northern California Campuses, legal services will be provided by the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA).
