About Joaquin

Why did you choose this program?

I chose the HSU Environmental Resource Engineering (ERE) program because I wanted to develop the tools within myself to help make the world we live in a better place.

How did this program prepare you for your job?

Once I developed good logical ways to interpret the world and an extremely strong knowledge of the scientific process through the ERE curriculum, it made me a stronger, happier, and more confident person. Never to be lost, misplaced, taken, or stolen, no matter where I end up!

What did you enjoy most about the program?

I enjoyed my time living in Humboldt County, especially exploring the region with my classmates through the ERE courses that took me to the beaches, the mountains, the rivers, and the unique places in between, all in an effort to better understand our environment and how we interact and predict the behavior of it. Oh,... and the HSU sculpture classes were "off the hook" awesome!

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

Through my professional career and many years of interactions with "engineers", it is clear to me that the knowledge gained through the ERE program is top-notch. What you learn at HSU is founded on the basics of good math, science, and research techniques. It will serve you very well when confronted with real-world problems and how to solve them.

Enjoy your life! It is like candy, good Now and Later!
