Why did you choose this program?
I chose HSU because of the opportunities to pursue both my vocal and instrumental interests, small class sizes, and the exceptional music faculty.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
The HSU Music Department welcomed me into both the instrumental and vocal performance ensembles as a music education student. The diverse experience the department provided me has been essential to my success as a music educator. High expectations with high support from the professors pushed me to expect more from myself as a student, performer, and future educator.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
I enjoyed being a part of a small music department with professors who supported my learning needs as a student and a community of students who supported each other on their journey to become professional musicians.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
Humboldt State University is a great option for those looking to have individualized support from their professors, many ensemble opportunities in both vocal and instrumental music, and getting to live in the most beautiful place in California.
