Daniel DeArmond
, Forestry, 2004
Daniel DeArmond, 2004 Forestry, worked in the timber industry in California for 10 years, and during that time became a registered professional forester (RPF No. 2855). Now DeArmond is living in Manaus, Brazil with my family, and is halfway through a graduate program at the National Institute of Amazonian Research in Manaus, Brazil. DeArmond hopes to graduate with a Master of Science in tropical forestry in 2018.

Mildred (Milly) J. Correa, 2017 Art, has begun a full-time graphic design job doing what she loves for an amazing non-profit, the Armory Center for the Arts, in Pasadena, Calif. Correa writes, “Thanks to my family, friends, and mentors who all encouraged me to pursue my goals to do what I love as a career. Contributing to my community while being able to do what I love is vital, which led me to take the Graduation Pledge. This is just the first step in my post-graduation life but I really look forward to it.”

After working at Solar City, I am currently working in Taiwan as an English Teacher and preparing for an International Business Masters degree. I am still playing baseball and running my audio-blog about identity and cross-cultural interactions. I would like to thank Rosamel Benavides in the World Languages and Cultures Dept as well as the International Studies Dept for providing me a solid foundation to conquer career challenges, domestic and international.
Magen Golobay
Psychology, 2004
Magen Golobay, 2004 Psychology, currently works at a special school teaching students with severe emotional and behavioral disturbances. Golobay’s work includes helping kids suffering from mental illness, neglect, abuse, and other difficulties get an education while also ensuring they receive support and treatment. The goal is to help students become productive members of society and remove the stigma of their mental illness.
Damien Adams
Mathematics, 2010
Damien Adams, 2010 Mathematics, earned a master’s degree in Mathematics from San Jose State University and acquired a full-time teaching position at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, Calif. Adams has also started a podcast, Women in Math: The Limit Does Not Exist promoting women in mathematics, and founded the college’s Math Club.
Brittney Cathey-Adams

Brittney Cathey-Adams, 2010 Art, received her Master of Fine Arts from San Jose State University in 2014. With the support and mentorship of many of her art professors, and especially Professor Emeritus Don Gregorio Anton, Cathey-Adams has achieved one of her goals of teaching photography at the college level. She has had the opportunity to teach four courses in digital and darkroom photography with San Jose State University, create photo curricula for youth programs, exhibit her artwork, give lectures, participate in conferences for her regional chapter of the Society for Photographic Education. She currently works in the San Jose Museum of Art’s Education Department.
Gayle Hall

Gayle Hall, 1973 Journalism, teaches English as a Second Language and Citizenship Preparation at Torrance Adult School. She has worked for Torrance Unified School District for more than 20 years and recently received the the Certificated Employee of the Year award. She and husband Tom Hall (’74, History) met and married while in college. They have been married for 45 years and have three sons. A favorite activity is going for long walks at a local beach. Prior to her teaching career, Hall worked as a magazine editor and writer. While attending HSU, she worked part-time as a feature writer for the Eureka Times-Standard.

Jade Mejia is enrolled in the Simmons College School of Library and Information Science pursuing a Masters of Science Degree in Cultural Heritage Informatics.
Brett A. Budick
Geology, 1976
Brett A. Budick, 1976 Geology, was appointed to the position of Chief Deputy State Coordinator of the Virginia Department of Emergency Management in December, 2016 by Governor Terry McAuliffe. As the number two in the agency and a 26-year Virginia state employee, Budick is responsible for all disaster response and recovery activities throughout the Commonwealth, radiological emergency preparedness at nuclear power plants and with the nuclear Navy, and Virginia's Homeland Security initiatives. He stays active in academia as an adjunct faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University and remains active in sports with USA Rugby and World Rugby in their Coach Development Programs.
