Securing Your Personal Information

On campus, your personal information is stored in two main areas:

• Information that’s stored on your phone or other mobile device
• Information that’s stored on the university’s systems

You should secure information stored on or accessible via your personal device by password-protecting the device and not using insecure public networks (Humboldt uses the eduroam secure wireless network). You’ll find plenty of additional tips and tricks by searching the web.

Humboldt’s networks are secured in many ways “behind the scenes”. You can help by using strong passwords, changing them frequently, and never sharing your password with anyone. Pay particular attention to phishing emails that are designed to trick you into downloading malware or logging into a site that's not what it seems to be.
