Research Projects

The NCCP fosters ongoing research projects in a commitment to add to the body of knowledge on traumatic brain injuries.

Our team stays updated with the most recent concussion research, consensus best practices, and CA state law in order to provide unmatchable service to its community.

NCCP Research

In our effort to stay updated and expand the knowledge of concussion best practices, the NCCP oversees and conducts student-lead research that will directly contribute to our quality of service.

Effect of mild traumatic brain Injury (mTBI/concussion) on neurocognitive function and motor control (Garcia, LaFarga, Larson, Ortega)

Individuals who experience a mTBI are known to exhibit decreases in brain function and motor control. We are performing a series of studies that look at the relationships between neurocognitive function, balance and walking mechanics and how these factors change during concussion recovery.

NCAA DOD Grant

The NCAA and U.S. Department of Defense are funding a $30 million concussion initiative. It will include the most comprehensive study of concussion ever conducted.

The aim is to more accurately diagnose, treat and prevent concussion among NCAA student-athletes, service men and women, and the broader public.
