My name is Ayan Cabot (he/him/his), and I am currently a freshman at Cal Poly Humboldt. I am planning to major in Political Science (Global Politics Concentration) with minors in International Studies and Spanish. I was born in Bakersfield, California, and spent a short time of my childhood in Mexico where I moved with my family. While there, I had the opportunity to learn Spanish. Years later, I moved to Fortuna, California, where I attended high school. In high school, I applied to study abroad in Europe with the Rotary Youth Exchange. I had the opportunity to live in Zurich, Switzerland. While I was away, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture and language. I learned Swiss German, German, and French. I also had the opportunity to visit other countries all over Europe. Having had the opportunity to live in different countries has opened my eyes to new cultures and, most importantly, has helped me make important connections with people from all over the world. These previous experiences are why I want to continue my journey of studying abroad, which is why I’m planning to participate in the León Program for summer 2024 in León, Spain, and allow myself to grow academically and personally. Additionally, there are countless memories and connections that I will make along the way that are remarkable.
