image.png 6) Cap and gown rentals from CCATRent a cap and/or gown from the Campus Center for Appropriate Technology for the Fall semester commencement ceremony on December 14th, and/or for Grad Photos! This semester, we are renting out caps for $5, and gowns for $20. We have gowns available for you to pick out and rent in a variety of sizes, available on a first-come-first-served basis. To rent a gown, simply come to the CCAT Classroom with a rough estimate on your height and measurements for the garb you need. Students can buy the gowns with cash, or by scanning a provided QR code and paying digitally. Students must provide their name, email, student ID, and phone number to CCAT in order to rent out a cap or gown. There will be several dates for gown purchase and pickup: 
  • Tuesday, December 6th, from 12-3pm.
  • Thursday, December 8th, from 2-5pm. 
  • Friday, December 9th, from 9-3pm.
If none of these dates work for you, reach out to CCAT via our email, ccat@humboldt.edu, or by Instagram, @ccat.humboldt. We may be able to coordinate with students for alternate gown pickup days with a heads up.After Graduation, we are requesting students return their rented garb to CCAT by December 21st, one week after graduation. Returning the rented gowns to us ensures more students in the future have access to affordable graduation regalia - please keep this option available to as many students as possible by returning your rented gown to us!    7) Local Climate Action Planning and Implementation, Dec. 5Join Cal Poly Humboldt's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Dec. 5 at noon via Zoom for a Brown Bag Lunch Presentation on "Local Climate Action Planning and Implementation," with Michael Richardson, Humboldt County Planning Dept; Emily Benvie, Arcata Environmental Services, & Matthew Marshall, RCEA Redwood Coast Energy Authority. Learn about the collaboration and progress being made to reduce green house gas emissions and adapt to climate change. See the full Brown Bag schedule here.  8) Save California Salmon internships, applications due Dec. 16Save California Salmon is accepting applications for Water Protector Interns. This is a paid internship for 10-20 hours per week with the potential to grow into a permanent position at the completion of approved projects. The deadline to apply 12/16/22. Applications that coincide with, or that can be made into long term policy, college or high school projects, or are related to outdoor education are encouraged. Projects must fall within the following categories:
●       Youth Outdoor Activities
●       Youth Activism
●       Teaching & Education
●       Legal and Policy Work
●       Campaign and Community Organizing

Prioritization will go to applicants who propose projects that involve helping and working with Tribes, educational institutions, youth, Tribal and water activists on issues that impact California rivers, clean water and salmon on the state, local and federal level. Qualified applicants without a proposed project will also be considered.
