Vinay Sundar
Boys' Chaperone
Vinay Sundar is a bassoonist from Santa Clarita, California. He is currently a student at the Juilliard School, and has previously participated in the Youth Orchestra and Honors Woodwind Quintet at the Colburn Community School. He has participated in masterclasses with Sophie Dervaux, Fei Xie, and Evan Epifanio among others. Vinay was selected as a semifinalist for The Music Center’s Spotlight Competition, and finalist for the U.S. Navy Band’s Young Artist Solo Competition and Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts Instrumental Competition, where he won 2nd place in the woodwind division. Vinay’s festival participations include the Sequoia Chamber Music Workshop and the National Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute. Vinay is currently studying under the tutelage of William Short, principal bassoonist of the Metropolitan Opera. His previous teachers include Otto Sit and Evan Kuhlmann, with additional guidance from Samuel Rhoton.
