Sloan McKelvy

Sloan McKelvy is a College Access Advisor at TRIO Educational Talent Search. With Bachelor’s degree in Art Education and a Master’s in Library & Information Science, they have been in the advising role for about  2 years. She has been serving the students of KTJUSD which is Sloan’s home community.

Sloan is passionate about Art integration in schools and her community gaining access to educational opportunities that support her people. They have contributed by substitute teaching at the Klamath-Trinity district, supported the Summer Algebra Institute, and taken trio youth on college & career exploration trips.

In their role, Sloan works on dual-enrollment advising, college knowledge workshops, and seeking new opportunities for students. They strive to make learning fun and share the joys of art to anyone who’s down to create. She tries to make youth follow their own passions and stay focused on doing so.

When not at work, Sloan is a mother of 2 and loves spending time with her family. Her hobbies include painting, drawing, karaoke, walks, and listening to music. She enjoys learning about new cultures and taking trips with her kids. She strives to be a present mom and keep life simple.
