Learning Lab Series: AI Unlocked

This session focuses on the practical skill of prompt engineering—how to clearly and effectively communicate with generative AI tools to get better results. Participants are introduced to a simple prompting framework (Role, Goal, Context, Questions) and explore real-world examples relevant to higher education work. The session emphasizes hands-on practice and immediate application to participants’ own tasks and responsibilities .

Learning Outcomes / Objectives

  • By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Explain why prompt quality directly affects AI output
  • Use the Role–Goal–Context–Questions framework to structure an effective prompt
  • Identify work tasks where improved prompting could save time or improve outcomes
  • Draft a sample prompt tailored to their role
