About Us

History of the Center

In 2022, our institution saw the need to support our ever increasing Transfer Student population and created a Transfer Admissions Coordinator position in our Admissions Department. This position focused on supporting our incoming Transfer Student population and creating pathways for those students. During this time, this position absorbed our Transfer Student Organization that was a student run club that supported our current Transfer Students. This organization became an integral resource for both incoming and current transfer students. With the support of various departments on campus such as Orientation, Admissions, Office of the Registrar, RAMP, and more; this organization was able to build traction in events and support our students. This organization received funding help through a Title V DHSI grant, Caminar Juntos, that allowed us to support our students and help them connect with one another and feel connect to campus. We hosted various sense of belonging events such as Bioactive Terrariums, Game Nights with Dandars Boardgames and Books, National Transfer Student Week, Baking Basics, and more.

As of Fall 2026, we are honored to say that our efforts in Transfer Support has been highlighted and we will now have a physical Transfer Student Center and our Transfer Student Organization will be absorbed and ran through this center. Thanks to Cal Poly Humboldt leadership and Title V grant, we will have a center for transfer students to visit, receive services and connect with students on campus.

Mission:

The Cal Poly Humboldt Transfer Student Center supports and empowers transfer students by fostering a sense of belonging, community, and purpose. We guide transfer students through their academic transition to help them reach their academic, personal, and professional goals. We celebrate transfer experiences, nurture community, and guide students to the resources and relationships needed to thrive.

Purpose

The Cal Poly Humboldt Transfer Student Center is a space for incoming and current transfer students to feel a sense of belonging and get connected to our campus before and during their time here. It is a safe space for our students who come from all walks of life to find the resources they may need and connect with other transfer students. The Transfer Student Center was created to support our increasing transfer student population by having a physical location for students to visit, create programs to help transfer students academically and host events to help transfer students find their community here at Cal Poly Humboldt.
