High School Scholars Program
Cal Poly Humboldt is excited to introduce the High School Scholars (HSS) Program, launching Fall 2025 for local high school, juniors and seniors in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. This program allows high school students to take university courses taught at Cal Poly Humboldt (or online) by Cal Poly Humboldt faculty. By enrolling in available seats in lower-division classes across disciplines, students can earn college credit, explore academic interests, and get a head start on college(lower division courses are numbered in the 100-299 range). The HSS Program promotes early college success, builds academic confidence, and supports a smooth transition to higher education.
Requirements
Junior, or Senior in high school
Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
Must be attending a local high school in Humboldt and Del Norte counties
Courses Allowed
Select lower division courses( students must meet any stated prerequisites). Here is a list of suggested courses
Two classes (up to 6 units maximum)
Registration Fees: $25 per Semester
Includes Cal State Apply, Jack Pass, and more!

Getting Started
Start the process by working with a counselor, teacher or administrator at your high school to complete these steps:
Identify course(s) in the area of interest. Refer to the Catalog or see the schedule of available classes.
Confirm you have met the prerequisites.
Ensure that you will receive appropriate high school credit for taking the course art Cal Poly Humboldt.

Fall Semester- Priority Application due June 15; Final Deadline August 1
Spring Semester-Application due October 1; Final Deadline: December 1

Parent/guardian and High School Approval
Once approved for the program, Cal Poly Humboldt Admissions will contact the student to provide a coupon code to submit the formal application through Cal State Apply to waive application fee
Students then submit the formal application to the university. Once we receive your Cal State Apply application, students will be enrolled into the requested courses, on a space available basis.

After Registration
Following registration, students will receive information via email about how to login to myHumboldt, Canvas (our online learning management system), and more. After you have been registered for class, you should do the following:
Review the add, drop and refunds deadline calendar
Review the Drop and Refund Policy
Review important deadlines
Verify the accuracy of your class schedule
Acquire your Humboldt ID card *optional
Activate your Cal Poly Humboldt email account
Learn how to request a Cal Poly Humboldt transcript
Learn how to access your student account to view grades
