With Rachel Morris

In this Studio School mixed media series, young artists ages 5–13 will explore the magic of mixed media through a fun, nature-inspired lens.

Students will use materials like paint, fabric, recycled paper, twigs, seeds, and more to grow their own imaginative works of art. Each project invites kids to layer, build, and experiment -- just like tending a real garden -- while developing artistic skills in a playful, hands-on environment.

Along the way, students will learn to mix materials, explore texture and color, and celebrate the beauty of nature through their unique creations.

As they build their artistic skills, kids will experiment with color, pattern, and form while learning how to bring nature to life through multiple media. This playful, hands-on environment is the perfect place for young makers to explore creative techniques and celebrate the beauty of the natural world through their unique creations.

Watch your child’s creativity blossom in the Studio School garden of imagination!

Registration opens Aug. 1.

Rachel Morris

As an art education student at Cal Poly Humboldt, Rachel Morris is well versed in multiple art practices and loves diving into new styles and techniques. She is enthusiastic about creating with freedom, as well as developing her art skills through ambitious projects. Art has been at the center of her entire life. She says that it has been "a privilege to have such a great support system in my art journey, and I aspire to provide the most positive feedback to all young artists around me." She considers herself a lifelong learner, and loves hearing facts about science and animals -- and she has a few of her own to share. She is fascinated by nature and the ecosystems around her, so a lot of her art practices revolve around exploration of her surroundings. Her goal as an art teacher is to inspire artists to create fun, interactive art in connection to their passions.
