Job description: "In my role as an Area Wildlife Biologist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, I am responsible for managing and overseeing big game species—including moose, caribou, brown and black bears, wolves, and wolverines—as well as various furbearer species such as beaver, lynx, otter, marten, mink, fox, and coyote. My work involves evaluating, planning, initiating, and conducting research and management activities to support the conservation and sustainable use of Alaska’s wildlife resources primarily focused on monitoring the population dynamics, survival, and productivity of moose and caribou. About Evelyn

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

"I’d tell prospective students that your time at Cal Poly Humboldt is what you make of it—so explore as much as you can. I transferred here after two years at community college, and one of the best things I learned is that it’s perfectly okay to change your mind about what you want to do—and then change it again. Try out classes that sound interesting, even if they’re outside your major; you might discover a new passion or direction you hadn’t expected. Humboldt has a supportive community and so many opportunities to get involved beyond the classroom. Take advantage of them, connect with your professors, and enjoy the journey of figuring out where your interests will take you."
